The Rhodesian Soldier

Rhodes House, Oxford, England

In a leafy suburb of the university town of Oxford in England, sits Rhodes House, designed by Sir Herbert Baker and home to the Rhodes Trust. The entrance leads into a rotunda, with Matopos granite embedded in the floor, a bust of Cecil John Rhodes, and Rolls of Honour of Rhodes Scholars (see that section) who gave their lives in the two world wars. The domed roof of the rotunda carries a large bronze Zimbabwe bird.
